NRI's
can open Current, Savings and Term Deposit

FCNR / NRE accounts held by the same account
holder with another Branch of the same Bank
or by remittances from abroad or by remittances
received in foreign currencies for credit
to NRE account.

Joint
NRE accounts can be opened in the name of
two or more Non-Residents, but such accounts
cannot be opened jointly in the name of
a Non-Resident and Resident Indian.
- Balance in
NRE accounts and interest thereon are freely
repatriable on maturity.
- Income from
interest on NRE accounts is exempt from Income
Tax. Balance in NRE accounts are exempt from
wealth tax, gifts to close relatives in India
out of balances in NRE accounts are exempt
from Gift Tax (Tax exemptions listed above
